Last Wednesday’s talk by the Lord Mayor of Brunswick, Herr Ulrich Markurth, was finally able to take place on the BRLSI Zoom platform.  The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Bath, Councillor Dr Yukteshwar Kumar, (the Mayor of Bath was indisposed) and both mayors gave some opening remarks to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the signing of our twinning agreement, before Mayor Markurth developed the evening’s theme of “Urban Development in Braunschweig”.  The talk was well attended by members of the BBTA, Bath German Society, members of the Anglo-German Association (DEG) in Brunswick, other Brunswick ex-pats, members of the Cardiff-Stuttgart Association and of the Cheltenham-Göttingen Association, and officials of B&NES.  We are very grateful to our speakers and to the audience for making this a memorable evening.

The next event we have to look forward to is Jürgen Kumlehn reading from his book “Jewish Families in Wolfenbüttel”.  This will take place on Thursday, 4th November at 19.00 UK time and is organised by the DEG.
