From our Roving Reporter Terry Basson.

“I was invited to the City library for the ‘Twinning Book Collection Re- Location’ event back in January.    This was my first visit since extensive alteration work to the building.

Taking the escalator up towards new territories I entered a pleasant entrance space wherein I noticed a collection of Origami work- folded book sculptures, that were part of the libraries – “Recycled An Ex Library Book Competition” that is run every year when old and damaged books that have reached the end of their borrowing life are given to members of the public and asked to remake them in anything they like.  We are told that this library will be running the competition again. (see link below)

I was slightly late for the Twinning celebrations but my pace naturally slowed – stopping in fact, to stare in wonder at the wonderful Origami collection on display  see seven images …  The library is such a show case of local talent, well worth regular visits not only for the wealth of books available, but the mixed exhibitions of interests to meet all tastes.

Oh yes, before you ask, I did renew my outdated library ticket so I will be making up that escalator again and again.
